Our projects
To ensure high quality products, Pangea Commodities works in partnership with Tanzanian companies, Huudi Mining and Kalao Farm on mining and agricultural projects.
Our current projects
- Copper : Rif Mountain mine
It was at an altitude of 2,100 meters on the Livingstone mountain, in the Njombe region, that after several months of prospecting, our partner Huudi Mining discovered a copper mine. Located near the famous Lake Malawi and just a few kilometers from Ludewa, this mine spans 50 km² across multiple mountain slopes.
Their efforts paid off with the successful extraction of 500 tons of 30% copper ore. These samples reveal concentrations ranging from 15 to 20%, confirming the significant economic potential of this site.
Operational since 2022, the project extends over 18 months and aims to increase production to achieve an extraction capacity of 200 tons per week, with an average quality of 15%.
Renowned for its excellent electrical conductivity, copper is an essential component of the energy transition as it contributes to the proper functioning of renewable energy (solar and wind) electricity transmission and distribution systems, as well as the manufacturing of electric vehicles.
- Manganese : Livingstone mine
20 kilometers from Njombe, our partner Huudi Mining has acquired a mine with a valuable resource: manganese ore. Located at an altitude of 2,100 meters, the Livingstone mine spans 100 km² and benefits from a geographically temperate climate.
Following an extensive study validating the reserves and concentrations of this deposit, 5,000 tons of manganese ore have been extracted with concentrations ranging between 40% and 50%.
Operational since November 2023, the project extends over 18 months and aims to increase production to reach 2,000 tons extracted per week with an average ore quality of around 45%.
This metal is a key component in the manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries and plays an essential role in the energy transition. Recognized for its corrosion resistance, it is also used to create stainless steel alloys, useful in the aerospace and aviation sectors.
- The Black Soldier Fly (BSF) project
Since 2022, we have also collaborated with Kalao Farm, a Tanzanian company dedicated to the development of agroecology and the circular economy.
Based in the heart of Tanzania’s economic capital, Dar Es Salaam, this project is both ambitious and promising. Its goal is to sustainably produce proteins to provide healthy and ecological food for animals and humans through the breeding of Black Soldier Flies (BSF).
These flies are indeed a viable source of nutrition with interesting nutritional values (approximately 42% protein and 35% fat) and contribute to waste recycling. They have the ability to convert nutrients from waste into proteins.
As for the residues resulting from this bioconversion (compost), they are used as organic fertilizers, which can be mixed with soil to fertilize crops.
Our future projects
Together, Pangea Commodities and Huudi Mining currently hold numerous licenses for graphite, nickel, tantalum, and other minerals. We also plan to start operations for graphite and nickel before the end of the year.
Our Tanzanian partner has indeed acquired a 50 km² mine with resources of these two ores on different layers. Located in the Lindi region, approximately 200 km from the port of Mtwara, its location is ideal. It is situated in the Mozambique Belt, recognized for hosting some of the richest graphite deposits in the world (confirmed by a feasibility study in 2020). The estimated extraction capacity for nickel and graphite is 5,000 tons/month and 40,000 tons/month, respectively.
